Bartlett shatters state mile record (again)
Lawrenceville junior Blair Bartlett continues to make magic every time she steps on the track.
Last month, when Bartlett ran her prior state mile record of 4:39.73 at the Millrose Games, that race came just a mere three weeks after she finished her XC season. At the The CIRCUIT meet at the Ott Center last week, after another month of real track training under her belt, she was able to drop her time by an astounding 4 more seconds — she won the race in 4:34.55!
That blazing time is not just another big state record. It’s #5 all-time in the United States! And, of course, it’s US #1 this winter, which means that Bartlett currently reigns as US #1 in the mile, 3200m, and 2 mile. In fact, Bartlett’s mile time last week would currently put her at #49 out of all NCAA Division 1 women this winter.
Once again, this was an awe-inspiring solo performance from Bartlett. She won by over 30 seconds and had to navigate traffic on the final laps while she lapped the field, though she also benefitted from a unique opportunity to chase down the wavelights. Watch a video of her historic race here.
