CVC Championship Girls Recap: Impressive doubles and triples as WWP North claims team title
Hosts WWP North claimed the team title at the CVC Championships on May 9, 2026, finishing on 102 points to top Notre Dame (82) and Hopewell Valley (81). The Knights’ well-balanced team scored across a variety of events, but they were led by Allison Lee (two golds in the distance events), Anamika Sertil (a gold and a silver in the jumps) and Eva Gedrich (two silvers in the throws). The Irish leaned on their speedy sprinters and hurdlers to rack up big points, while the Bulldogs just about matched them with their strong base of distance runners and throwers — including triple champion Uchenna Obidike.
Sprints
Nottingham’s Arianna Crusoe Gaye races the 200m at the Mercer Coaches Classic on May 2, 2026. | Track Mercer
Arianna Crusoe Gaye (Nottingham, Jr.) had a banner day to headline the sprinting events — she swept the 100m and 200m while also taking 2nd in the 400m.
The 100m final was a fast one, with Crusoe Gaye unleashing an NJ #10 12.11 to claim the title. She needed every bit of that PR, because she was pushed to the line by great races from Maya Dubois (Notre Dame, Jr.) and Samya Jenkins (Lawrence, Jr.). Dubois edged Jenkins by just a hundredth, 12.19 to 12.20, which are times that rank both girls in the Top 20 in the state. Angel Johnson (Ewing, So.), running on a just few minutes rest after a huge 100mH win, took 4th in a PR of 12.49.
Crusoe Gaye and Jenkins both doubled back in the 400m, but this time it was Jenkins who handily won in 58.95, her second PR of the day. Crusoe Gaye finished 2nd in 1:00.58, just a tenth ahead of Nina Dixit (WWP North, Jr.), who set an open 400m PR of 1:00.69.
The 200m featured a rematch from the top 2 in the 100m, and this time the duel was even tighter. In a photo finish, Crusoe Gaye won her 2nd title of the day by outleaning Dubois at the line, 25.79 to 25.80. D'Njah Tatum (Notre Dame, So.) ran a strong race for 3rd in 26.53, making her one of the only girls to PR in the top-seeded heat. Ty’Onna Johnson (Nottingham, Sr.) and WWP North’s Dixit crossed just 0.1 later in a dead heat: both were credited with 26.65, but Johnson was ultimately awarded 4th place.
The sprint relays were all Notre Dame. In the 4×100m, the quartet of Lisa Barber, Gabriella Mandell, D'Njah Tatum, and Maya Dubois won in 49.70, just ahead of Ewing in 50.04. In the 4×400m, the Irish’s Gabriella Mandell, Ava Fallon, Nadia Koimene, and Alaina Sabo went wire-to-wire in a dominating 4:10.33, with WWP North taking 2nd in a season's best of 4:15.97.
Distance
Allison Lee (WWP North, Sr.) capped off her remarkable Mercer County career by sweeping the 800m and 1600m. Those two wins raised her career tally to fourteen CVC or Mercer County titles across cross country, winter track, and spring track.
Lee started her day by hammering the 1600m in a very quick 4:49.31, a new outdoor PR that vaults her to NJ #5 on the 1600m/mile list. Behind her, Sydney Young (Hopewell Valley, Jr.) cruised to 2nd place in a season’s best of 5:06.80, while Anna Wilson (Hopewell Valley, Jr.) ran a well-paced 5:10.62 to chop 8 seconds off her PR and take 3rd place.
Not long after, WWP North’s Lee doubled back to win the 800m in 2:13.89, her second PR of the day. Alaina Sabo (Notre Dame, So.) followed with a season’s best of 2:18.18 for 2nd place, and Sara Secora (WWP North, Sr.) broke the 2:20 barrier for the first time with a 2:19.82 for 3rd place.
The 3200m was a showdown between three 1600m medalists: Grace Hegedus (Princeton, Jr.), Kajol Karra (Princeton, Sr.), and Izzy Meth (Lawrence, Jr.). The trio ran stride-for-stride the entire race, but it was Hegedus who won the shootout over the final 200m to claim the title in 11:09.67. Karra followed closely in 11:10.63 for 2nd place, and Meth crossed just a few tenths behind her in 11:10.82 for 3rd place.
Hopewell Valley (Chelsea Cahall, Elizabeth Eckel, Ashley Potter, and Elsie Rey-de-Castro) ran away with the 4×800m win in 10:10.48, more than 11 seconds clear of WWP North in 10:21.58 for 2nd place.
Hurdles
The 100mH was one of the fastest races of the day, as a handful of underclassmen rewrote the county leaderboard.
Top-seeded Angel Johnson (Ewing, So.) stole the show, running a blazing 14.71 to climb to #15 in the state. D'Njah Tatum (Notre Dame, So.) was the biggest breakthrough of the group, chopping a full half-second off her PR to claim 2nd place in NJ #22 14.87. Yona Choksi (WWP South, So.) also ran a big PR for 3rd place in 15.32. Bryana Mason (Ewing, So.) placed 4th in 15.68, just ahead of Johanna Kraft (Princeton, Fr.) in 15.79.
The 400mH was a tight one, as Della Gilligan (Princeton Day, Jr.) held off Gabriella Mandell (Notre Dame, Fr.) to claim her first CVC title, 1:05.24 to 1:05.43. Mandell’s time was a 2-second PR that is #2 among New Jersey freshmen. WWP South’s Choksi added another bronze medal with a 3rd-place PR of 1:07.89.
Jumps
Faith Settles (Ewing, So.) delivered one of the most impressive moments in the field events with a massive 18-1.5 long jump on her final attempt — a nearly two-foot PR that moves her to NJ #15 and sits her atop the county leaderboard. Anamika Sertil (WWP North, So.) placed 2nd after hitting 17-0 for the first time ever, and Yona Choksi (WWP South, So.) set a personal record of 16-4.75 to place 3rd.
The triple jump featured a similar breakthrough at the top. Alexis Johnson (Hamilton West, Sr.) PR’d by nearly 2 feet with a jump of 35-11.5 to win the title. D’Njah Tatum (Notre Dame, So.) followed in a close 2nd place with a jump of 35-7.25, her third PR of the day, and Hephzibah Olotu (Hightstown, Jr.) was just an inch behind with her own big PR of 35-6.5 for 3rd place.
In the high jump, WWP North’s Sertil and Uchenna Obidike (Hopewell Valley, Sr.) were named co-champions after both maintaining clean sheets through 5-0. Bryana Mason (Ewing, So.) also cleared 5-0 on her final attempt, earning her 3rd place.

The javelin throw came down to a matter of inches, as Ti'Kayla Smith (Nottingham, Jr.) narrowly topped WWP North’s Gedrich for the title, 108-8 to 108-5. Abigail Power (WWP North, So.) was right behind in 107-0 for 3rd place.
